CITATION OF ENGR. PROF. RAHAMON ADISA BELLO, FNSChE, FNSE, FAEng

Professor Bello, born on October 6, 1948, in Iboro-Yewa,Ogun State,attended Iju United School (now Holy Trinity School), Iboro and Egbado College (now Yewa College), llaro.

He earned an OND in Mechanical Engineering from The Polytechnic,Ibadan, in 1968, and a First Class Honours degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1974. He obtained an Masters of Science In 1977 and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada.,

In 1991, Professor Bello worked with the Nigerian Tobacco Company (NTC)in Ibadan following his OND program. He served his NYSC primary assignment with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Maiduguri. He briefly worked at the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources as a Petroleum Engineer before pursuing his postgraduate education.

He joined the services of the University of Lagos in 1977, and progressed steadily from Assistant Lecturer in 1977 to Professor of Chemical Engineering by 1998. He served as Head of the Chemical Engineering Department (1999-2002), He was appointed the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services) in April 2010, In May 2012 he was named the Acting Vice-Chancellor and later in November of that year, he was,appointed as the eleventh Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos.He completed his tenure as Vice-Chancellor in 2017 and retired from the services of University of Lagos in 2018.

Professor Bello was the National Project Manager for United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and International Labour Organisation (ILO) project on “Strategies for Self-Employment Promotion” which ran simultaneously in sixteen states of Nigeria, in 1991 to 1992.

Specializing in Biochemical Engineering, he has conducted research and consultancy in Industrial Biotechnology for organizations such as Nigerian LNG,Elf Petroleum,SPDC,and NNPC.

Professor Bello was appointed Ogun State Commissioner for Special Duties(1994-1996)
Specializing in Biochemical Engineering Processes, he has carried out research and consultancy in Industrial Biotechnology. to various organizations including Nigerian LNG,., Elf Petroleum, Shell Petroleum Development Company and NNPC

A Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the,Nigerian Academy of Engineering,, he became the Vice-President of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering in 2022.

Professor Bello is currently the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Tai Solarin University of Education,Ijebu-Ode,Ogun State.

Prof Bello is deeply involved in community Services. He is the Aare Adeen of the Iboro central Mosque and the Asiwaju of Iboroland. He is currently the Chairman, Yewa People Development Council,coordinating the activities of all pan-Yewa Developmental Organisations.

He is married to Alhaja Momudat Adedoja Bello and blessed with children and grandchildren.
