NIMechE Benue Counsels Youths on Vocational career; Visits Tor Jemgbagh 1 Palace

On , 6TH June 2023, Members of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers Benue Chapter visits Royal Science and Technical College Gboko, as part of their continuous efforts toward promoting STEM and vocational education among youth. The team also visited the palace of Gboko Palace of HRH David Afatyo Ajoko (Tor Jemgbagh 1).

During the Visit to the school, NIMechE team led by Engr. Kabiru Bobby Mohammed impressed it on the students to consider STEM and vocational education as life career. The team explained how highly rewarding the journey can be. The excited Students of the School were guided on the available career options in Engineering.

“The journey to becoming an engineer start from secondary school,” the students were told. various steps to be taken and subjects combinations were also highlighted to the students.

NIMechE Chairman, Engr Mohammed spoke extensively on character and traits the young scholars need to develop to succeed, both in their academic sojourn and as an engineer. He urged the students to see themselves future leaders and take their career aspiration seriously.

The session was interactive with the students engaging the visitors to satisfy their curiosity.

After the career session the NIMechE team went on tour of the School’s facilities and made many contributions in areas that needed commendation and suggestions for improvement.

At Tor Jemgbagh 1 Palace…

The NIMechE team paid a courtesy visit to the Gboko Palace of HRH David Afatyo Ajoko (Tor Jemgbagh 1) who also doubles as the Proprietor of the School.

Members of the team led by Engr kabiru Bobby Mohammed were well received and the team presented the observations made at the School to HRH.

The former seasoned Educator, Politician and now HRH appreciated input of members of the Institution. He highlighted the ongoing efforts he was putting in place to uplift the School such as equipping of their Science Laboratories and workshops, most of which were in line with the suggestions that were made by members of the team.

He explained the vision behind the establishment of the College and the plans for more practical oriented courses to prepare the students for success in their chosen career.

He promised to put everything in place in the next 6 months and requested the members of the Institution to pay another visit about that time to see the level of compliance.

As means traditional courtesy, HRH presented the most fattened Cow on his farm to the team.

Chia Mne Fidelis , The Technical Secretary Ewache Abu Michael MNSE, Engr. Terseer Kasso MNSE, FNIMechE, Engr. Clement Msega Zwa, The coordinator of the Student Chapter Mr. Ikyor Ver Bernard, Tsavkegh Alexander Terhemba, Icha Victor Ejuwa and Ogbodo Colet Kosi as student members.
