Four engineering courses at the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) have been accredited by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
According to a statement issued by the Registrar of the Council, Engr. W. Kamila Maliki, the institution’s Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering courses have been given full accreditation while it’s Electrical and Mechanical Engineering courses have interim accreditation
“There will be random visits to the university within the period of validity to check on the state of facilities,” the statement read in part.
A Daily Trust report quoting UNIABUJA Deputy Registrar, Waziri Garba, the full and interim accreditation statuses were valid for five and two years respectively, effective from the of 26th March, 2015.
COREN warned that the accreditation could be withdrawn where evidence indicates falling standard and urged the management to abide by stated recommendation.
