I welcome you all to the inauguration of Nigerian institution of Civil Engineers, Students’ Affiliate in the department of civil engineering, Ekiti State University.
The Civil Engineering Students’ Association (CESA) has been in existence since the inception of the department and to God be the glory the association (CESA) have over four hundred students ( 400 students) as active members.

Our vision has always been to educate, inform and train civil engineering students, enabling them to develop their intellectual abilities for effective practice in the civil engineering field. To God be the glory we have been able to extend our tentacles within and beyond the institution, which is evident today as we are been inaugurated into the national body of NICE.

With the corporation and commitment of our great civil engineering students we have been able to conduct and train our students in the use of AutoCAD software, this training was done for about 5 weeks, we have also been able to create and ensure that good level of interaction is available between students (class representatives) and lecturers, academic empowerment in terms of tutorials at all levels, attending of the Nigerian institution of civil engineers (NICE) conference in Osogbo last year November and today the inauguration of the Nigerian institution of civil engineers, students’ affiliate in our department.

I want to without reservation salutes the great men and women in our midst, who have helped in making us what we are today.

The Vice Chancellor, who has improved our academic performance by adding value to us, through a favorable academic calendar, improved and conducive lecture theatres, a well secured study environment and more importantly a well equipped civil engineering laboratory and lots more. The Deputy Vice Chancellor for his fatherly care, concern and advice in view of our academics and this great event we are experiencing today. The Dean of the Faculty for believing in us and receiving our visitors whole heartedly, the H.O.D for standing by us all through the journey. To Engr. Fatuase our esteemed staff adviser who has always been there for us at all times, our lecturers who have continually and tirelessly tutored us to be one of the best in our field. I praise your heroic zeal and fervor towards us.

As the saying goes there is no crown without a cross, presently and in the past we have been faced with several challenges , especially in regards to financing the associations’ mission and programmes effectively. As we speak we do not have an office of our own, although a proposal has written and submitted to the Deputy Vice Chancellor and HOD for consideration and approval. Our participation at the Nigerian institution of civil engineers (NICE) conference held at Osogbo in November, 2012 was also poor due to lack of finance.

We need your support in other to carry out our activities effectively. The following items are also needed by the association for effectiveness.
 A well furnished office
 Civil engineering text books
 A photocopy machine
 Sign post
 A printer
 Book shelves etc.

Today we implore you great men and women in our midst to support us financially in other for us to be able to achieve all these items as soon as possible as we can do it on our own and our Nigerian institution of civil engineering, students’ affiliate in Ekiti State University might go into extinction if not properly funded. And so we humbly ask for your support and may God continually bless you. All financial responsibility toward this inauguration are from the CESA EXECUTIVES.
