I am pleased to invite you to attend Inaugural Lecture to be delivered by Professor Oguntola Jelil Alamu on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at 2 pm in the Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium, Osun State University, Osogbo.
He is a professor of Mechanical Engineering and the Immediate Past Acting Vice Chancellor of the Osun State University.
Let us celebrate our own, the very first LAUTECH graduate; to become a professor; to head an institution, now making another feat as the first Alumnus to deliver an inaugural lecture in 10 days time at Osun state University, (21/12/2016). Incidentally, the 10th inaugural lecture of the University on the official day of the institution’s 10 years of existence. What a unique and great one.
This great and young professional Engineer, Prof Oguntola Jelil Alamu deserves all the support. We shall surely celebrate him. Congratulations in advance our main man.

Who is Professor Jelili Oguntola?
Oguntola Jelil Alamu hails from the Ogunajo family in Iwoland. He bagged West African School Certificate ‘O’ level with distinctions in 7 subjects fromBaptist High School, Iwo in 1988. He holds B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology(LAUTECH),Ogbomoso (1998); M.Sc at the University of Ibadan(2001) and Ph.D at LAUTECH,Ogbomoso (2008) in the same discipline.
He is a member of notable professional organizations including Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigeria Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE), Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), Council for Renewable Energy in Nigeria (CREN) and African Wind Energy Association.
Professor Oguntola Jelil Alamu assumed duty on 21 December, 1998 as a Graduate Assistant at LAUTECH, Ogbomoso and currently has over 17years of teaching, research and administrative experience in Nigerian Universities. He hassupervised substantial number of undergraduate projects, Masters and Ph.D theses at LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye (OOU), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB) and Osun State University, Osogbo (UNIOSUN). He has also assistedBells University of Technology, Ota in adjunct capacity. He is an external examiner to Covenant University, Ota, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, University of Ibadan and Federal University of Technology, Minna.
His research interests are in Thermodynamics of materials, Fluid flow and Renewable energy. He has published widely in local and high impact international journals of repute. He has attended local and international conferences; disseminating his research findings. His research prowess was globally acclaimed through one of his publications, which was ranked by Sciencedirect (Elsevier) as “Top 25 most downloaded Articles” in Fuel.He has over 400 citations of his articles as captured by Google Scholar. In the ranking of scientists in Nigeria Institutions, released by Cybermetric Lab, Spain in March 2015, Prof. Alamu made “top 500 researchers”; emerging as the highest ranked Scientist from Osun State University at the time.

Professor Oguntola Jelil Alamu has held modest administrative positions in the University system; Coordinator of Mechanical Engineering Department (OOU; 2007-2008), Acting Head of Mechanical Engineering Department (UNAAB; 2008-2010), Acting Head of Civil Engineering Department (UNIOSUN; 2010-2011). Acting Director of Academic Planning (2011-2014), TETFundDesk Officer (2011-2014), Acting Dean and later Dean, Faculty of Engineering (2013-2014; 2014-2016). He is a member of University Senate, Strategic Plan Committee, Admissions Committee, Board of Postgraduate Studies, Committee of Deans, Provosts& Directors, Business Committee of Senate, Appointments & Promotions Committee and Development Committee among others. In 2013, he represented Senate on the Search Team – a joint committee of Senate and Governing Council for appointment of Vice-Chancellor. In 2014, Professor Oguntola Jelil Alamu was elected as a member of Governing Council of Osun State University and on the 3rd February, 2015, he was appointed as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Osogbo. He successfully handed the University over to a substantive Vice-Chancellor on 5thNovember, 2016.
Arising from these feats, he was conferred with “Award of Academic Excellence” by the LAUTECH Alumni Association on the 29th December, 2013 for breaking the record as the First Alumnus of LadokeAkintola University of Technology to become a Professor. He was also decorated with “Distinguished Personality Award” by Lautech Muslim Graduate Association (LAUMGA) on the 28th April, 2014. Professor Oguntola Jelil Alamu equally bagged “Productive Visionary Leader of Action Gold Award” from Centre for Productive Visionary Leadership in Abuja on the 9th May, 2014. He was conferred with Special Awardby the Nigeria Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE) in 2015. He was decorated as Fellow of The International Chattered World Learned Society on the 24th February, 2016.Other notable awards include Appreciation Award by the Nigerian Cardiac Society (NCS), Award of Recognition by the Osogbo Central Lions Club and Award of Excellence by the Ejigbo Chapter of the National Association of Osun State Students and Distinguished Award by Diabetes Research Consortium (SIDCAIN) in March, 2016. Professor Oguntola Jelil Alamu was honoured with Distinguished Personality Award by the Nigerian Society of Engineers(NSE) (5thMarch, 2016). He is happily married and blessed with children.
