She held several leadership positions, including Head of the Department of Food Technology and Dean of the School of Technology. Under her guidance, the School of Technology expanded and achieved accreditation for its programs.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Amusu has been involved in engineering consulting. She has worked with various companies, including West Africa Milk Company and Integrated Dairy Farm, providing her expertise in agricultural engineering.

Amusu has also played a crucial role in advocating for the engineering profession. She has served on the accreditation committee of the National Board for Technical Education and the council of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. Notably, she was the first female member of the Council of the Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria (COREN).
