President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of DCG Kemi Nanna Nandap to serve as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), effective from March 1, 2024.
According to a statement by Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, on Wednesday, DCG Nandap takes over from Mrs. Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, whose term in office expires on February 29, 2024.
He said before her appointment as Comptroller-General, Nandap was the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of the Migration Directorate of the Service.
“The President anticipates that the new Comptroller-General will deepen the ongoing reforms in the service. And create a robust mechanism for efficient and dedicated service delivery to Nigerians, as well as strengthen the nation’s security through proactive and effective border security and migration management,” he added.
Kemi Nana Nandap born on June 3, 1966 in Zaria Kaduna State, she had her undergraduate studies at the University of Ilorin where she bagged a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry.
Nandap was the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of the Migration Directorate of the Service.
Nandap was among the 24 Comptrollers who got promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration following their successful performances in a promotion exercise conducted for senior officers in December 2021.
Nandap who assumed office as the Comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Command, Lagos in 2022, replaced CIS Abdullahi Dalhatu, who retired from the service earlier in the year.
Apart from putting a significant stop to issue of human trafficking through the Lagos International Airport, other significant achievement the service recorded within the short period of her assumption of office, was the interception of a pistol and bullets and the arrest of the US based Nigerian who brought them into the country through airport.
Before her appointment as Comptroller at the Lagos international Airport Command, Nandap served as Comptroller in charge of Plateau State Command where she also left indelible marks on infrastructural and human capital development.
She had previously served in many Commands including the service headquarters.
