The hard working Engr Adewale George Adeyemi has completed his tenure as the Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE Ota Branch. the Branch has officially inaugurated Engr Dr Edith Alagbe as new chairman thus becoming the first female chairman of the Branch.
Adeyemi, in his valedictory speech appreciated members for their unwavering support in the last two years. He called on members to continue to give their best and support the new administration to take the Branch to greater height.
Under his tenure, the Branch recorded growth in many facet. And expanded its activities and programmes. More regular meetings were held, and increased number of professional development activities, such as monthly technical session, Webinar and high level training.
During the period, teh Branch also expanded it social Welfare programmes to celebrate members on their special day. It also initiated compassionate programmes for members who suffered loss.
The Leadership under Adeyemi worked hard to integrate Engineers in public offices to be partner in the Branch activities. Various courtesy visits, endowment programmes were conducted.
Among the high profile personality who made the Branch their home and attended the Branch events is the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, her Excellency Engr Mrs Noimot Salako Oyedele FNSE, former commissioner for forestry Ogun State, (now a Federal House of Representatives member representing Ado Odo Ota Constituency) Engr Tunji Akinosi FNSE FNIMechE among others. Akinosi, for example delivered the inauguration leadcture while Engr Oyedele Salako was Special guest of honour and Guest speaker respectively.
Under his leadership, Ota Branch initiated new activities such as Annual end of the year program and award; NSE Ota Spouse forum was inaugurated while the Branch expanded its tentacles to Agbara/Igbesa axis with members from that axis attending monthly meeting.
Adeyemi’s administration worked hard to improved branch’s visibility through engagement in enlightenment programs and proffering solutions to problems that affect our circle of influence through. The Branch consistently participated in the World Engineering day during which it engaged in both educational and humanitarian activities. Among such efforts is a visit to General Hospital Ota and Iganmode Orphanage Homes and presentation of peculiar gifts items
Ota, being an industrial Avenue also was not left out asn the Branch orgnased various industrial visits to familiarize with the companies in the area. The Branch also extended it tentacle to Agbara/Igbesa axis which equally boast many industries.
Under his watch, the Branch commended Engineering Week which featured many activities and also served as avenue to collaborate with other professional bodies. FOr example Novelty match between Engineers and journalists took place as part of efforts to bring the noble professional together. Others are career talk, workshop/ hands on training in various discipline of engineering, Spouse and elders forum health talk on related health issues and concluding with Public lecture and presentation of certificate of service to all past executives of the branch and committees members
Not resting on his laurel, Adeyemi initiated Maiden STEM school competition among secondary schools in Ota with three schools going home with trophies and award plague. This was followed with second edition of STEM School competition which was named Engr.(Hon.) Tunji Akinosi FNSE FNIMechE (Member House of Representative)STEM competition with schools from Ado Odo Ota federal constituency participating.
He began work on getting the Branch t have the Branch Secretariat by setting up committee. The Branch also actively supported the establishment of Divisions of NSE domiciled at the branch while encouraging existing ones to thrive.
With this and many others, Engr Adeyemi George Adeyemi wrote his name in history of the Branch which was only inaugurated . The baton of leadership has now passed to Engr Edith Alagbe, a Chemical Engineer who previously served as the Vice Chairman of the Branch until the election.
The branch executives for 2023/2024 and want us to support them to exceed all expectations. We must not be selfish to abandoned the branch after attaining our professional height because those coming after us need the ladder also to be like us. We must not allow the branch to loose oxygen under our guide. We need to ensure we are financially update nationally and at the branch. Let it be at the back of our mind that for any branch to retain her branch status such branch must have not less than 50 financially up to date with NSE Headquarters.

Engr. Adeyemi Adewale George was born on November 15 in Trechiville, Ivory Coast now CoteD’Ivore. He is an indigene of Ejigbo in Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State.
He attended Baptist Primary School, Oke Balogun, Ejigbo [1981-1987], Baptist High School, Ejigbo[1988-1993]. In 1994, he was admitted to The Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti to study Mechanical Engineering and he obtained a National Diploma in 1996. He also obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering [2002] from The Federal University of Technology Akure, Ondo State and Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Lagos [2010].
He is currently a senior mechanical engineer with Aluminium Rolling Mills [A division of Tower Aluminium (Nig.) Plc] Ota Industrial Estate, Ogun State and Mechanical department head. He is a member of The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ota branch and was the chairman, inauguration planning committee when the branch was inaugurated and currently the branch financial secretary. Also the Chapter chairman of Ota NIMechE and member of national council of The Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a registered engineer with the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria. Elected member of statutory audit committee 2018 of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
He is a team player with definite abilities in leadership, planning and organization decision making and team building. He is happily married with children.
PROFILE OF Engr. Dr. Edith E. ALAGBE, MNSE, FNSChE.
Engr. Dr. Edith Alagbe is a Chemical Engineer who began her academic journey at Payne Primary School, Benin City. She attended Federal Government Girls College, Benin City, and proceeded to the University of Benin for her first degree (1997). She obtained her MSc and PhD from the University of Lagos and Lagos State University respectively.
Her work experience spans the private and public sectors of the Nigerian economy where she held different positions and made significant impacts. Past workplaces include Motu-Tec Ltd Oshodi as Sales Engineer, African Paints Nig Plc as Development Chemist, AVI Services (Planet Rent-a-car) as Technical Service Manager, Lagos State Polytechnic as Part-Time Lecturer, and the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi, FIIRO, as Senior Research Officer.
Currently, she is a Researcher/Lecturer at Covenant University, Ota in Ogun State, Nigeria where her research scope covers areas like modeling and simulation (hemodynamic), chemical reaction engineering, process control, drying technology, and pulp/paper.
She is a very active member of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, NSChE, and makes a significant professional impact at the Chapter, Sectorial Group, and National Levels. At the NSE, Ota Branch, she was the Vice Chairman in the last dispensation and also headed the STEM Committee of the Branch where she brought her coordination prowess to bear.
She enjoys writing and has several publications to her credit. She is COREN registered, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE), and a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
The NSE Ota Branch, inaugurated in 2015 under the Presidency of Engr Olorunfemi Ademola Isaac. It has been led by Engr Prof , Engr Friday Ifijeh and recently Engr Adewale G, Adeyemi.
