On November 23rd, 2023, history will be made at the Nicon Luxury Hotels, Abuja as Nigeria inaugurates Chartered Institute of Power Engineers of Nigeria, CIPEN and its Governing Council.

The event is expected to play host to the president of Nigeria, HE Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Special guest of Honour. The Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the Speaker of the house of Representative, Rt, Hon Tajudeen Abbas are Special guests of honour

A former President of West African Federation of Engineering organisations WAFEO, HR Engr Otis Anyaeji wil be presenting the keynote address while former Managing Director and CEO Transmission Company of Nigeria, Engr Isa Musa is the guest Speaker.

He will speak on the theme: “In-depth Analysis of cases and Solutions to the to the Stunted growth of Nigeria’s power Sector.

CIPEN

The Chartered Institute of Power Engineers of Nigeria, CIPEN (Establishment) Bill, (now an Act) was signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Institute is empowered to determining what standards of knowledge and skill are to be attained by persons seeking to become members of the Power Engineering profession. It was established in a bid to ensure the furtherance, maintenance and observance of ethical standards and professionalism among Power Engineers in Nigeria as well as ensure detailed synergy between the industry and academia in the power industry .

This Act establishes the Chartered Institute of Power Engineers of Nigeria and charges it with the responsibility for determining the standard of knowledge and skill to be attained by persons seeking to become Chartered Power Engineers.
