The Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, NIMechE Ilorin Chapter had elected a University of Ilorin, UNILORIN Don, Engr Dr. Suleiman Abimbola Yahaya as the new chairman of the Chapter, report, Isqil Najim.
This follows election of the Chapter at its Annual General Meeting held in Ilorin today, Thursday October 13th 2022.
Engr. Dr. Suleiman Abimbola Yahaya is currently the Ag Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ilorin (Unilorin), Nigeria.
He hold Doctorate Degree from the School of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia. During his PhD period he was the President of the School of Mechanical Engineering Postgraduate Students Association during his PhD and a former President of the Nigerian Engineering University Students Association, ATBU chapter.
From his research activities as obtained on the University of Ilorin staff profile, verified Google scholar, Scopus author, Researchgate and Orchid profiles, he has published his research findings in reputable journals (high impact factor) and conference proceedings, which is an outcome of his consistent cutting-edge research in assistive technology, additive manufacturing, biomechanics, biomaterials, finite element analysis, and material testing.
Development of health care solutions such as hip protectors are currently on the front burner due to the aging population in various parts of the world.
In the same vein, materials for biomedical applications are gaining attentions, and it is well known that the efficient and effectiveness lie on progress in the biomaterial research, an area in which Dr Yahaya as demonstrated remarkable expertise as an outstanding senior research engineer.
