COREN Shuts Local Government Shopping Complex Site*

The Kwara State Technical Committee of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) shuts Local Government Shopping Complex along Airport Road Ilorin.

The STC team led by its Chairman, Engr. Bashir Atunde Lawal, condemned the Poor quality of job in the construction of the Shopping Complex, and directed the Contractor and Engineering Personnels on the Project to report to COREN Office with all necessary paperwork within 48hours.

The Chairman stated that COREN will not relent in ensuring that the right thing is done in all Engineering related projects (Public and Private), as building collapse and project failure is no more acceptable.

The COREN STC also visited the sites of Emirate Mall Ilorin, Airport Road, and Proposed Commercial Development Site along Taiwo Road, Ilorin.

The STC team commended the Contractors on the quality of work done, and respect for Professionalism. It however hammered on the importance of immediate registration of all cadres of Engineering Personnels on the Projects with COREN. It also stressed the need to put all necessary safety precautions in place at the sites, to prevent accidents to Workers and Visitors.

The STC paid on inspection visit to Olak Roofing Nig Ltd, to check the Emissions, Waste discharge into the Environment, and EMP of the company. A follow up visit to be paid in few weeks time.

The team was also at an Inspection Visit to the ongoing Asadam-Egbejila-Airport Road.
