Buhari hails Mustafa Shehu, World Engineering Organizations president-elect;

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Engr Mustafa Balarabe Shehu on his election as President-elect, World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO). The 59-year-old immediate past Vice President was formerly President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and President of Federation of African Engineering Organizations FAEO.

According to Press release by, Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President: ‘The President notes that the overwhelming endorsement of Engineer Shehu by the members of the body at the on-going World Engineering summit in Costa Rica, is a testament to his passion for the field of human endeavour as well as his dedication towards ensuring a better lease of life for Nigerians especially rural dwellers, using his familiar terrain of electrical engineering,’

He called it “a testament to his passion for the field of human endeavour as well as his dedication towards ensuring a better lease of life for Nigerians especially rural dwellers”.

President Buhari urges him to use his wealth of experience and contacts to address some of the issues bedevilling the profession in the country especially, the unfortunate occurrences of collapsed buildings and improvement in the energy sector.

He wishes the accomplished and multiple award-winning Electrical Engineer a successful tenure.

MyEngineers  previously reported that Mustafa Shehu, by the feat, becomes the first Sub Sahara African to occupy the position. Having preciously served as the President of Nigerian society of Engineers, the highest umbrella body of Nigerian Engineers, he went on to serve at continental level as president of Federation of African Engineering Organizations  before heading to World Federal of Engineering Organizations, [WFEO] where he has been contributing to global development through various positions.

My Engineers also reported that the federal Government through the Ministry of Science and Technology under Engr Dr Ogbonaya Onu gave backing to the affable engineer in his effort to lead the global body.
