For Professor Kazeem Adebiyi, rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Thursday 11th, November, 2021 is a day he will never forget in a hurry.
His former students at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso — mostly graduates and some of whom are professors and associate professors, mentees and admirers, surprised him with a car gift few minutes after he delivered his inaugural lecturer at the institution.
According to them, Adebiyi is not the usual Nigerian lecturer, he is too kind to for them not to honour him.
Close to 100 of Adebiyi’s former students had contributed money to buy the Toyota SUV popularly called Venza.
A visibly surprised Adebiyi, who hadn’t removed his academic gown when he was presented the car key, was all smile as he was asked to move towards the car.
Adebiyi, this newspaper recalled, was appointed rector by the administration of late former governor Abiola Ajimobi on 25th, March, 2019.
