The Polytechnic Iresi, a private but thriving Polytechnic in Osun State welcomed a new Rector to the institution, Dr. Kamoru Oluwatoyin Kadirion 4th of October 2021. It could be recalled that in February this year, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) granted full accreditation to all the courses being offered in the Polytechnic and the board showered encomium on the institution for meeting up to the standard. The Polytechnic Iresi being a private institution was equated with Federal Polytechnics.
The Ag. Rector, Engr. Dr. Kamoru Oluwatoyin Kadiri FNSE, a renaissance man resumed the office of the Rector on 4th October, 2021. Engr. Dr. Kadiri is a renowned and erudite scholar of National and International repute who had his West African Examination Certificate (WAEC) in 1985 after which he proceeded to the Polytechnic Ibadan, Oyo State where he had his National Diploma (ND) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering between 1986 and 1988.
Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru, widely known and called “KK” by friends and associates also attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State for his first degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering where he graduated in 1995. Apart from his Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Computer Science, “KK” has three Master Degrees to his credit; Master in Business Administration from Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti in 2000, Master in Industrial and Labour Relations from University of Ilorin in 2007 and Master of Computer Science (Networking and Telecommunication) from Babcock University, Ilisan Remo, Ogun State in 2012, after which he possessed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Computer Science (Networking and Telecommunication) also from Babcock University in 2016.
As a researcher, Engr. Dr. “KK” belongs to several professional bodies and associations in Nigeria and abroad. He is a Fellow of the Nigeria Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, (FNIEEE), Fellow of Nigeria Society of Engineers (FNSE), and Fellow of Institute of Data Processing Management of Nigeria (FIDPMN).
Engr. Kadiri is also a member of International Association of Engineers (IAENG), IAENG Society of Artificial Intelligence, IAENG Society of Electrical Engineers, IAENG Society of Wireless Networks and Nigeria Institution of Engineering Management. He is as well an associate member of Nigeria Institution of Management (NIM) and a Registered Engineer of the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). In addition, Engr. Kadiri is a liaison officer in Kwara State to the Institution of Data Processing Management of Nigeria (IDPMN).
Until his appointment as the Ag. Rector of the Polytechnic Iresi, the polymathic giant, “KK” was the pioneer Director of Affiliate Degree Programmes and Industrial Collaboration, Federal Polytechnic, Offa and a former HOD, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He is also a former Ag. Dean, School of Engineering and Applied Science, Living Spring College of Technology and Innovation Osogbo, Osun state.
The Osogbo born engineer who started his lecturing career at Federal Polytechnic Offa in 1996 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose to the level of Chief lecturer in 2016 was also at some time the PRO, Secretary and Chairman at the zonal level of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Federal Polytechnic, Offa Chapter. He has also received several distinctive honorary/merit awards as a result of his endless dedication and contributions towards academic development and humanity at large.
As a versatile researcher, Engr. Dr. Kamoru, FNSE has authored over 23 textbooks majorly in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Computer Science. In addition to this, he possesses more than 117 publications of both National and International standards to his credit and has served as a lead paper presenter in many conferences and workshops.
“KK” was appointed as a Senior Lecturer and later offered an Associate Professor at the Kampala International University, Uganda, and after the rigorous interview which he declined. The University sponsored his trip with the return ticket, free accommodation and allowances. He is an instructional, facilitator and project supervisor at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and as well Senior Lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Minna in affiliation with Federal Polytechnic Offa. These without an iota of doubt makes him a fit, in both Polytechnic and University system of education at National and International levels.
Lastly, the Federal Government of Nigeria recently approved his patented invention on 7th September, 2021 which is on detection of Nigeria currency denomination using neutral network, the first of its kind in the banking industry with certificate number RP/NG/P/2020/79.
