…As Eliade becomes first private university to have Student Wing Inaugurated
The National chairman of Automotive and Locomotive Engineers Institute, Engr Dr, Abubakar Jumaare has announced the commencement of merit Award for best Graduating Students in Automotive Engineering Studies in the country.
This was announced during the inauguration of Student Chapter of the Institute at Elizade University, Ilara Mokin, Ondo State recently.
He said the award has already commenced at Abubakar Tafawa University, Bauchi and PAN Learning Centre, Kaduna and the same will soon be extended to Ahmadu Bello University, A.B.U. Zaria and Air Force Institute of Technology, AFIT, Kaduna. According to him, the purpose of the award is to motivate students to excel and be recognized.
He therefore encourage the students to persevere, because the journey towards earning engineering qualification is not that easy.
Speaking on the Theme of the event, “Towards producing Competent and Successful Automotive Engineers”. Dr Juma’re said the choice of the topic was deliberate “so as to rhyme with the inauguration of the Students’ Chapter. Saying that he expected the “lecture will motivate the students to understand that Automotive Engineering is a specialization that is worth taking as a career.
He stressed that graduates of automotive engineering will have roles to play in Nigeria’s auto and industrial development “due to the sophistication of modern vehicles, which require deep knowledge of Autotronics and vehicle dynamics.” Saying that opportunities abound and the sky will be the starting point, not limit.
He used to opportunity to challenge lecturers to do all they could to groom and mentor the students and prepare them for the challenges ahead.
He congratulates the University and the Head of Department for the giant stride and their efforts to guide the students through the path of professionalism. He also noted that with this inauguration, Elizade University becomes the first private university in the country to have a students’ chapter inaugurated.
He promised, on behalf of the Council that AutoEI will continue to collaborate with the University to see to the success of all its engineering programmes in the area of canvassing for students, professional support to continue to maintain accreditation statuses of all its programmes and also towards obtaining approval to start Postgraduate programmes.
The Institute also honored some distinguished engineers at the event. They are:
1. Prof. Kayode Amund VC Elizade University.
2. Prof. Benjamin Imasogie, Dean Faculty of Engineering.
3. Prof. Christianah Ijagbemi.
4. Prof. Abraham Asere.
5. Engr. Ibitoye F. Adeniran KLM.
Present at the event are the principal officers of the University on the occasion, under the headship of the Vice Chancellor, Prof Olukayode Amund. Others were Mr Omololu Adegbenro (Registrar); Mr Olusegun Ajeigbe (Bursar); Prof Benjamin Imasogie (Dean of Engineering); and Prof. Ayodeji Oluwatope (the Director of ICT).
Also present is HOD Department of Automotive Engineering of the University, Engr. Prof. Abraham Asere, who worked tirelessly towards the inauguration of the students’ Chapter.
Others include the Royal Father of the Day, HRM, Oba Engr. Prof. Adebisi Akinola, the Obamila of Imila, Odo Ayedun-Ekiti in Ekiti Statw, Engr. (Mrs) Mojirade Oloruntoba (former Ilesa Branch Chairman & National Exco member, NSE); Engr. Wale Alonge (Chairman, NSE, Osogbo Branch); Engr. Ezekiel Oloruntola (Chairman, NSE, Akure Branch); and Engr. Prof Olumide Ogundipe, the immediate past Chairman of NSE, Ado-Ekiti Branch. Others were Engr Adeyemi Adeyonu (General Secretary, NSE, (Akure Branch); Engr. (Mrs.) Seun Borokini (General Secretary, Ado Ekiti Branch) and Engr. Abiodun Ogunrinde, Engr. Kola Anwo, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun on Project Monitoring; Engr. Kehinde Temikotan, Technical Secretary, Akure Branch; Engr. Felix Adeniyi, an elder of Akure Branch; Engr. Monday Leke; Mr. Ayodele Adepoju; Surveyor Oluseyi Oke; and Engr. Adeyinka Atoyebi, among others.
