A brand new chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers Aba Branch, Engr Chukwuocha Emeka was inaugurated on the 8th of May 2021 at a well organised and attended investiture ceremony which took place at the prestigious Hotel De la Paix Aba Abia State.
This epoch making ceremony attracted Engineers and non Engineers and their families, including the family,colleagues and friends of the new chairman.
While congratulating the new ABA ENGINEERS chairman as well as the Exco and members of the NSE Aba, The president of COREN represented by Engr Oguntala, reiterated that plans and schemes has reached advanced stage to move the training and licensing of Engineers to outcome based Engineering, this he stated will bridge the theory-Skills gap.
She further stated that COREN is working hard towards increased mobility and internationalisation of the Nigerian Engineer by joining the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific, FEIAP and the Washington Accord.
Finally, she urged Government at all levels to engage Nigerian Engineers in order to enable them build their capacity. She quoted the COREN President who in an interview recently, stated that “practice makes perfect”.
Immediate past chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers Engr Okeke Olughu ,Engr E.C Iroakazi , Engr F.C Nnabugwu amongst other past chairmen were all at the occasion.
Abia Speaker Honoured
The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji was honoured at the event in acknowledgment of his efforts in engineering, philanthropy, lawmaking, politics, advancement of humanity among others.
While honouring the Speaker with the Award for his Legislative Excellence, the NSE stated that the Speaker was selected for the Award after a careful study of “his performance and contributions towards the growth of engineering in the society and your quality of service to humanity”.
Responding, the Speaker who was represented by Hon Aaron Uzodike, the Lawmaker representing Aba North State Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly, thanked the Nigerian Society of Engineers for the honour done him and promised to keep doing everything within his power to continue to advance the cause of humanity.
