With gratitude to God for a life well spent, death has been announced of a former National Chairman of Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, NICE, Engr Amos Ade Omopeloye FNICE, FNSE. He died at the age of 71. (April 21st 2021).
Born on 5th April, 1950 at Ile oluji, Town of Ondo State, he was until his death, Managing Director of Engineering Companies in Lagos, Tobadeli Limited and Godspillar Engineering Limited where he rendered construction and engineering services and has executed various projects across the country.
Prior to setting up his own companies, he was a civil servant with Lagos State Government from where he retired voluntarily having rose from Technician level to Directorate level in project monitoring Department of Lagos State Government.
Other appointments he held while under the employment of Lagos State include but not limited to: Director, Project Monitoring, Lagos State Ministry of Works & Infrastructure, Project Engineer, Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs on Coastal Road Development, Project/Resident Engineer, Lagos State Ministry of Works and many more.
Some of the works he was involved are: Design and construction of Obafemi Awolowo Way and Secretariat complex car parks, Underground storm drainage to the Secretariat complex and House of
Assembly Complex, Ikeja. (Design & Sup.), Construction of Coker Bridge, Iganmu – by J.B (Design & Sup.), Design and Construction of Itire Aguda Canal Complex, Ikeja Area Planning Authority (Building and Site Inspector) and many others
He was an active member and elder at Nigerian society of Engineers, Ikeja Branch where he held various positions in the past years. At NiCE, he rose through the rank to become National Chairman and served between 2009 and 2010. He was subsequently appointed as a member of Board of Trustee of the Institution. He served as Vice Chief Inspector COREN Engineering Regulation and Monitoring, E.R.M Lagos Zone, Member of Lagos State Government Ubran / Renewal Committee, Member of Lagos State Policy Reform on Physical Planning and Building control.
An active social, community and faith leader, he was a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Fellow, Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) and COREN Registered Engineer.
He is survived by children and grandchildren.
