The National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, has launched an automotive design training programme in the Southeast in Imo State.
The training is in continuation of the NADDC’s capacity-building training programme for Nigerian Youths across the six geopolitical zones of the Country.
This time around the training, tagged ‘Solidworks Design & Simulation Software for Automotive Design Skills’, organised in collaboration with the Dassault Systemes Solidworks Corporation, was launched on Monday in Owerri, the state capital.
Speaking virtually during the opening ceremony, the Director-General of the NADDC, Jelani Aliyu, charged the participants of the training programme to grab the opportunity to make themselves significant and add value to the automotive industry.
He said: “I advise you all to take this seriously as this is an opportunity to succeed in your careers. I urge you to focus and see this as a window to the future.”
The NADDC helmsman also said the Council would continue to equip the Nigerian youths with the necessary skills and tools needed to be as competent as any youth everywhere in the world.
“We are in the digital age and the engineering design and product development of vehicles and all related components is best done digitally,” Mr Aliyu added.
The founder of Coscharis Group Nig, a subsidiary of Coscharis Group- Distribution Channel Partners of Dassault Systems Solid Works in Nigeria/Africa ably represented by the Head, Solution Business for Solidworks, Clement Nnedu, thanked the management of NADDC for the partnership and the platform provided to make the training a reality.
Earlier in his remark, the Director of Research Design and Development NADDC, Fidelis Achiv, promised the participants that the commission under the leadership of Mr Aliyu will remain committed to empowering Nigerian youths.
According to him, at the end of the two-week training, the participants who were selected based on the test they underwent should be able to use the software and become global players in the auto industry.
