Ogun NIEEE elects New Officers as Olumayowa Idowu Emerges new Chairman

The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) Ogun Chapter has elected its new executive members yesterday Thursday 28th January, 2021 during her 4nd Annual General Meeting in Abeokuta. The election produced Engr. Olumayowa Idowu as the new Chairman while Engr. Abolaji Ilori emerged as the Deputy Chairman. He will be taking over from Engr. Felix Adegboye who successfully completed his tenure.

The Chapter also elected, Engr. Tolulope Erinoso as the Vice Chairman (Power Engineering Section), Engr. Wale Oguntade as Vice Chairman (Telecommunication and Computer Engineering Section), Engr. Temitope Adegbuyi as Vice Chairman (Instrumentation, Control and Automation Engineering Section) Section while, Engr. Akinola Solanke emerged as General Secretary.

Others elected are Engr. Odumala Tunde as Treasurer, Engr. Monsuru Lamidi as Financial Secretary, Engr. Joseph Odiete as Publicity Secretary, Engr. Oludayo Oluwole as Membership Secretary, Engr. Felix Adegboye, as Immediate Past Chairman.

During the Annual General Meeting of the chapter many far reaching decisions were made along with various reports presented. Members at the AGM commended the outgoing Chairman Engr. Felix Adegboye and his team for serving the chapter and the institute meritoriously during their tenure.

The Ogun Chapter of the NIEEE was formally inaugurated as the 20th Chapter of the Institute on the 23rd of February, 2017.

Engr. Prince Olumayowa Ayodeji Idowu was born into Jiboso dynasty of Agura Kingdom, Abeokuta, Ogun State. He has worked in various sectors ranging from Academics, Power Solution Firm, I.T Corporation and Broadcasting Industry – directly focusing on how to solve people’s problem within his environment. and currently work with Nigerian Telivison Authority, Abeokuta.

He hold a Bachelor Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Postgraduate Diploma in Education at Uthman Dan Fodio University Sokoto, a Master of Science degree in Information Technology and is currently, pursuing additional higher degree in Communication and Digital Signal at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

Engr. Olumayowa Idowu is an alumni of Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) – Mandela Washington Fellowship Program, a corporate member of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE), National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), International Association of Engineers (IAENG), Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), Fellow Institute of Policy Management and Development (IPMD), Registered Member of Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) and Registered Engineer with Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). As an academician, Engr. Idowu has many published peer-reviewed articles in local and international journals, actively participated and presented at local as well as International conferences and meetings.

He is the current National Auditor Member of Nigerian Society of Engineers and General Secretary of Abeokuta Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE). He has served the engineering in many capacities both in Ogun State and National level.
