The federal government has expressed its readiness to adopt whistleblowing as part of the many efforts for enforcement of expatriate quota administration in Nigeria.

This was disclosed by the Chairman, Special Ministerial Task Force on Monitoring and Enforcement of Nigerian Expatriate Business Permit and Expatriate Quota Administration, Hon. Bola Ilori, when he appeared on the cable television, TVC, on Monday in Lagos, Nigeria.

Bola Ilori expressed optimism that the strategy would provide the ministerial taskforce the privilege to know how faring the affected expatriate companies are as regards the recruitment of qualified Nigerians to understudy expatriates by relying on members of the public to provide voluntary information to the special task force which he assured the committee will act responsively without compromising the identity of such spirited members of the public.

In his words, Bola Ilori, said”, there is no government in the world that can know everything except the people who around decide to collaborate with the government and this is not the interest of just the president or the minister neither your party affiliation because poverty as no political colouration and unemployment is general to Nigerians, so let everybody forget his party or politics”

“if unemployment continues at the rate it is going in Nigeria, we will not be able to sleep regardless of your party”

He appealed to Nigerians to avail the taskforce of the needed information to work with and assured that soon a repository of contacts shall be provided to reach out to the special task force.

It will be recalled that the white blowing policy has tremendously helped the current administration in the recovery of some looted national wealth where members of the public give specific details about known sharp practices or where some looted money were secretly kept.

Ilori also stated the readiness of the federal government to use TIN and NIN numbers of Nigerians engaged by the expatriate to properly monitor whether they are being properly remunerated.

“Every company must submit the details of Nigerians understudying expatriates in their organizations. They must submit the Tax Identification Number, NIN of each Nigerian understudying expatriates in their companies”

“We have discovered that some of the companies are not sincere; they just want to keep renewing the permits of their expatriates at the detriment of Nigerians. We want to know whether they are circumventing the policy or they adhere to it”, he concluded.
