Brief Report of the NUESA Young Engineers programme at NSE Annual General Conference & Meeting ” Abuja 2020′

Brief Report of the Nigeria Society of Engineers Annual General Conference & Meeting ” Abuja 2020′ which held at the International Conference Center, Abuja between the 16th-20th of Nov. 2020.

The Conference started with the arrival of guest and members of the Association on Sunday 15th of November, 2020 followed by registration of participants. The year’s theme focuses on the topic “Engineering education and lifelong learning opportunities for sustainable development”.

The conference enjoyed the participation of high-profile and astute engineers, industry big players, dignitaries, Commissioners and Honorable Ministers across different parastatals, acidemias, traditional rulers amongst others. The NUESA president under the leadership of Comr. Dauda Monsuru Olatunji was well recognized as the students’ wing of NSE and highly represented.

The young engineers forum for Graduate and students was chaired by Engr. Chinyere Nnenna Igwegbe, FNSE, FIMC who amongst other seasoned Engineers shared knowledge and also spared their quality time to mentor young engineers. Upskilling and developing of both soft and hard skills is one of the key requirements to staying relevant in the job market she added. Prof. Engr. Muhammed Dauda, from the University of Maiduguri addressed young engineer and also stirred them to be innovative and in search of knowledge and new discoveries as this will keep them on top of their career.

As part of the programme of event for young Engineers, a technical paper presentation was done where winners emerged from both the graduate and student categories, the winners were awarded gift as encouragement for their research work in the field of engineering. The winners for both the students and graduate categories are; ThankGod Arome and Ibrahim Bilal, respectively.

President for Nigerian Universities of Engineering Students’ Association (NUESA), Dauda Monsuru Olatunji, NMIS alongside his executives presented awards to the following people;

Engr. Babagana Muhammed FNSE (NSE President)
Engr. Fumilola Ojelade FNSE (APWEN President)
Engr. A. A. Rabiu (COREN President)
Engr. Kori Shetima FNSE (APWEN Maiduguri Chairman)
Engr. Chinyere Nnenna Igwegbe, FNSE, FIMC (Executive Member, NSE)
Engr. Prof. Muhammed Dauda, FNSE
Engr. Adeniran Ibitoye Felix, KLM, FNSE
Engr. Alex Okopi, FNSE. Amongst others.

All these were done to appreciate the individuals for their selfless sacrifice, impactful leadership and mentorship accorded towards NUESA and the young engineering forum.

Young engineers also had a technical visit/excursion to Dantata Town Developers Limited as part of the programmes aligned for the students to stir up their interest in the engineering profession.

The event ended with the dinner and award night which took place on the 19th of Nov. 2020.
