Theme of the Day: Engineering And Socioeconomic development in Post Covid Era
I’m most delighted to welcome you all to this August occasion, the first of it kind in the history of National Universities engineering students Association (NUESA). This is indeed a laudable achievement in the records of our novel organization, over the years we have strive diligently to model our organization after the most reverend Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) in achieving excellence as young engineers. The unflinching support and fatherly supports that we have enjoyed from these two parent bodies and others cannot be overemphasized.
Distinguished, it is no longer news that we are in a new era ravaged with the novel Corona virus disease of 2019 (COVID-19), business and activities across the world has been shut down with many loosing their source of livelihoods. With over nineteen million cases of corona virus around the world, the ripple effect has crippled economies of the world with greater toll of developing nations where Nigeria belongs, however has the world continues to find a lasting cure to end the surge of the virus, businesses and activities must move on. If there one thing the novel virus has taught the world, it is that we must continue to innovate our ways out of every situation and as engineers this is what we are meant to do always.
The purpose of this virtual summit is to; stir up a new course for innovation and development, open students to new opportunities that got sprung up as a result of the virus, equip students with requisite knowledge and insight needed to thrive successfully in a post-covid era , bridge the gap between the academic world and industrial requirement through engagement from human resource personnel and highly experienced individuals from corporate organisations and industries. As we know that engineering remains a meaningful tool in the socioeconomic development of every Nation, this summit is design to help students contribute to Nation building by leveraging on every resources made available.
Invited guests, chairman of the occasion and distinguished colleagues, we have come a long way to put all these together amidst all odds. This is telling us that we must continue to innovate our ways out of every crises as professional and young engineers. Once again, I welcome you all this 5-Day summit.
Fellow students, I enjoin you to maximize this opportunity to best use.
