Fellow Engineers,
On behalf of the Council and Executive Members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, I am pleased to announce the the first National Engineering Summit Organized by the Nigerian Universities Engineering Students Associations, NUESA holding between 10th and 14th August 2020.
The event which is proudly supported and backed by the NSE as part of our contributions to the young engineers’ development will have different segments outlined below.
On Day one, (MONDAY), beginning from 2pm, the NSE president Engr Babagana Mohammed FNSE will declare the Summit open while Engr Mike Sangster, Managing Director Total E& P Nigeria Limited and President COREN Engr Ali A. Rabiu, FNSE, FASCE ( Cigarin Lafia) will be the guest speakers.
On Day two, {TUESDAY), there will be “The Graduate League” with the theme: “Bridging the Gap between Academic Knowledge and Industrial Requirements.
Various accomplished professionals in the industry have lined up to do justice to the theme. Among them are Professor Mohammed Dauda , a professor of mechanical Engineer, and Pioneer Managing Director, Advance Manufacturing Institute, Jalingo,; Cletus J. Ajibade, a Software and technology Expert based in USA; Engr Adeniran Felix Kilomodemo Ibitoye, FNSE, Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Water Resources and Energy and also Vice president of NSE; Engr Hauwa Mohammed Sadique, Past President of APWEN and Champion of Advocacy for Girl child; Sunday Fagbemiro, an Oil and Gas expert and Engr Nwodi Egbune Wosu, a Petroleum Engineer who is also a career counselor and researcher.
The session will be coordinated by Engr Chinyere Nnenna Igwegbe, MNSE, FIMC, National Executive member of NSE.
This will be followed by Quz competition among Secondary School Students.
On Day Three, (Wednesday), we have reserved this for Women in Engineering and the session will hold between 4pm and 6pm on Zoom (link below).
Prior to this there will be live quiz competition organized for secondary School students between 12noon and 2pm.
From 4pm to 6pm, we will be hosting high caliber of women in engineering at a session whose theme is *“Leveraging Resources to promote Women Engineers”.
Among our resource persons are: APWEN president. Engr Funlola Ojelade, FNSE; Engr Chinyere Nnenna Igwegbe, MNSE, FIMC NSE National Executive member; Engr Kori Shettima, MNSE; Engr Atinuke Wuraola Owolabi, FNSE, MD/CEO Wurvicat Solar Foundation and Engr Chioma Okoli-Chima, CEO Olivet Cloud Solution Nig Limited.
The session intends to provide answers to some critical questions such as how female engineers can thrive in the profession, necessary skills needed for budding female engineers in this present age, advice on what young female graduate in the engineering on how to beat unemployment trap and also focus on sexual harassment and assault of the female gender.
There will be questions and Answers and interactive session to cap the day.
Thursday and Friday are devoted to quiz and Award presentation
