The Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, Lagos Chapter under the leadership of Engr Mrs Lola Adetona has achieved another milestone as it officially unveiled Civil Engineering Resources Centre in Lagos.
The Facility located at the new office on the 3rd floor of Oshopey Plaza Allen Avenue Ikeja, has Library, both physical and electronic, Training Space that can accommodate 20 members at a time, while it also houses some of the Chapter’s memorabilia.
The unveiling event was attended by 20 senior Engineers due to the need to observe social distancing in line with the state’s COVID 19 protocol.
The Facility is now ready for Members who need space for co-location and studying as the NICE Resource Library is also functional. The Centre offers training for 20 members per time and all administrative activities are in top gear.
The Chapter Chairman noted that the centre is intended to be a place where Engineers and engineering students can meet and network through various professional development programmes.
The Chapter deems the Resource centre a breakthrough for cost-effective training for its esteemed members as funds will no longer be expended renting event centres for Professional development programmes.
Furthermore, it serves as a veritable springboard for entrepreneurial development of SMEs established by its members through the provision of a collocated office; Such SMEs will the provided with the best assistance available to make them grow and eventually become independent employers of Labour.
The special guest of honor for the unveiling of the NICE Resource Centre was the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor Engr Mrs. Aramide Adeyoye who was ably represented by Engr Mrs Ronke Olukoko, a Director at the Works & Infrastructure. Also in attendance are the past national Chairmen- Engr Robbie James Owivry, and Engr Saliu Lawal, Engr Dr Tunde Olatunji.
Some of the attendees who graced the unveiling are Engr Wasiu Olokunola, former Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works, Engr Jonathan Taiwo Adegboye, former chairman Nigerian institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) Lagos, Engr M.O.Odumeru, Engr Opeoluwa Ogungbo.
Others are: Stefan Euchenhofer, the MD Peri Formwork and scaffolds, Engr Omotayo Jegede, Engr Monsurah Alagbe ( APWEN Lagos chapter vice Chairman), Engr Funmi Akingbagbohun (Chairman NSE, Ikeja branch ), and Engr Nimot Muili, Akinlolu Satope(Finance Secretary NICE Lagos), Engr Victor Omike (publicity Secretary), Engr Odumade Adeleke, Engr Ajanaku Tokunbo (National vice Chairman, Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers), Engr Major Daniel Adeniyi, Engr Emeka Ibeh, and other Executive members.
Members are advised to contact the secretariat for both collaborations and to work towards the development of the Civil engineering profession in Lagos. Members were urged to make donations that will accelerate the realisation of the NICE Resource Centre vision both on the short and long term.
