President Buhari appoints mechanical engineer, Professor Adigio Vice Chancellor for Maritime University

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Professor Emmanuel Munakurogha Adigio, as the Vice Chancellor of the Nigerian Maritime University of Okerenkoko.

Briefing Journalists after receiving his appointment letter, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor said he will internationalise Maritime University by partnering with the University of Liverpool UK to fully establish Marine Engineering programme at his university.

Munakurogha Adigio also said one of his cardinal objectives is to move the University to its permanent site.

A mechanical engineer born in city of Ibadan but hailed from Brass LOcal Government, Bayelsa, Professor Adigio holds Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough University, Loughborough, Leicestershire, UK, MSc Mechanical Engineering 1984, Ecole Universitaire D’Igenieurs de Lille, Lille, France, BSc Mechanical Engineering , Universite de Reims, Reims, France

Before current appointment, he has worked at Niger Delta University Amassoma, Bayelsa State, Nigeria as Senior lecturer and Research scholar. He collaborated with the department of mathematics in the area of mathematical modeling of fluid flow and the department of biological science in the area of green energy

He also served as Ag HOD Mechanical/Marine Engrg Dept. Under his tenure, the Department obtained NUC accreditation for the Mechanical Engineering programme and COREN for both Mechanical and Marine Engineering programmes. It improved on staff and students discipline through interaction

Before joining Academic and research environment, Professor Adigio worked with Green Oak Oil Mill, Omoku, Rivers State, Nigeria as Resident Consultant/General Manager where he rebuilt and commissioned a 3 tonnes per hour palm oil mill, which was stripped of most of the functional equipment and machines, abandoned for over ten years. Repair parts and human resources were all locally sourced.

Others are: Risonpalm Ltd, Rivers State, Nigeria, Automobile Peugeot, Sochaux, France, Centre Nationale de Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Lille, France, , Union Indstriel et d’Entreprise, Paris, France.

Engr. (Prof) Emmanuel Munakurogha ADIGIO is a is a registered COREN Engineer with membership of Professional bodies. He has authored and coauthored many publications both home and abroad.
