RENEWAL OF ANNUAL PRACTISING LICENCE

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN was established as a statutory organ of the Federal Government by Decree No.55 1970, amended by Decree 27 of 1992 now Engineers (Registration, ETC) ACT CAP E11204, further amended by the Engineers (Registration, ETC) (Amendment) ACT NO 3, 2018. The ACT empowers COREN to regulate and control the practice of engineering in Nigeria in all its aspects and ramifications.

Pursuant to Sec 9(2) of Engineers (Registration, etc) (Amendment) Act, 2018, registration with COREN is compulsory.

In accordance with Sec.7 (4), of engineers (Registration, etc) (Amendment) Act, 2018 the status of Registered Engineering Practitioners are renewed annually. In accordance with Sec 7(5) of engineers (Registration, etc) (Amendment) Act, 2018, Firms are renewed biennially.

COREN is saddled with the responsibility to licence all Practising Engineering Practitioners and to determine, regulate, monitor and accredit all Engineering Institutions in Nigeria. Engineering Firms and Practitioners are licensed in the following practise categories;

Engineering Personnel

i. Engineers

ii. Engineering Technologists

iii. Engineering Technicians

iv. Engineering Craftsmen.

Engineering Firms

ii. Engineering Contracting

iii. Engineering Manufacturing and Production

iv. Engineering Service Provision

v. Vendoring of Engineering Machines Equipment, Plants and Material

vi. Engineering Fabrication/Repair and Maintenance

To this end, the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN is set to publish the names of registered Engineering Firms, Institutions and Engineering Practitioners who have fulfilled all the conditions to practice engineering legally and/or up to date in the payment of their Practising Fees. Engineering Practitioners and Engineering Firms are hereby requested to ensure that they are up to date in the payment of their Annual Practising Fees or risk their registration revoked after Three (3) months from the date of this publication.

Foreign Firms and their Practitioners are by this publication invited to urgently regularize their Engineering Practising Licences in Nigeria with COREN. Individual Status of Engineering Practitioners can be obtained on our website at www.coren.gov.ng.

All payments should be made online only through COREN Portal as follows;

• Log in to www.coren.gov.ng

• Click on Application Fee/Registration Fee/Practising Fee (Depends on purpose) Payment Guide and follow the instructions.

• Other payments outside above mentioned including request for new Seal, should be through GENERIC PAYMENT also on the Portal.

• Please take note of Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) number generated for reference purposes.

All registered Engineering Practitioner Certificates are ready for collection. Except for the approved registrations at the 165th Council Meeting held on the 12th of March, 2020, all other registered Practitioners are required to pay the mandatory Annual Practicing Fee up to Year 2020, before collecting their registration materials. Annual Practising Licences of all Engineering Practitioners can be downloaded online after payment.

The general Public should demand for the Annual COREN Licence in order to avoid engaging quacks. They can visit COREN Portal to check the status of any Engineering Practitioner before engaging them as follows;

i. Visit portal.coren.gov.ng

ii. Click on search

iii. Select options from drop down (Personnel, Firm or Practising Licence)

iv. Key in Reg. No. (eg Rlxxx for Personnel, EF or ECF for Firm)

v. Select category: For Personnel (Engineer, Engineering Craftsman, Engineering Technician, Engineering Technologist, All) For Firm (All, Contracting, Engineering Services, Fabrication/Repair/Maintenance, Manufacturing/Production, Vendoring of Engineering Machineries/Equipment)

vi. Click on search

vii. Status of Personnel or Firm

? Not licensed to practise this year

? Licensed to practice this year.
