After 35 years of meritorious services to the nation, two senior directors at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing have retired. They are: Director of Highways (South East ) , Engr Henry Okechukwu Udeh and Coordinating Director Bridge and Design , Engr Charles Obiora Okonmah.
The ceremony held at the Ministry’s conference room on Wednesday also had in attendance the COREN President, Engr Ali Rabiu, Director Highways, Construction and Rehabilitation, Ministry of Works and Housing Engr. Yemi Oguntominiyi and Special Assistant (Engineering /Technical ) to Minister of State for Works and Housing , Engr Yerima M Bulama.
The two retirees in their respective speeches expressed their gratitude to God for preserving them through the years and also appreciated the colleagues with whom they worked together at the Ministry saying they owe their success to their cooperation and teamwork.
Chairman of the event, the President of Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) Engr. Ali Rabiu congratulated the duo for their services to the country and praised them for exhibiting high level of professionalism and dignity in their journey. He also commended them for being a positive ambassador of engineering while noting that they are leaving satisfaction and good reputation. He urged them to hold their head high and wish them more positives accomplishments in their post retirement journey.
In his goodwill message, the Ministry’s Director Highways, Planning and Development, Engr. Chukwunwike Ogonna Uzo thanked the duo for opportunities to work together and added that he is pleased that they are retiring with confidence and satisfaction for their services as he could see joy radiating from both of them. He wished them good luck in the journey ahead.
Engr Charles Obiora graduated from University of Benin and commenced work with the Ministry 35years years ago. During the period he rose through the rank and held various top technical management positions . He is a COREN registered engineer. He is affiliated to various professional bodies which includes the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), the Nigerian Institution of Highways and Transport Engineers (NIHTE), the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) among others. While in service, he was involved in the supervision of a host of Highway construction projects across the country.
Engr. Henry Okechukwu Udeh graduated in June 1983, with Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering, he joined the Federal Civil Service in 1984. He was a Federal controller of works for the following states; Plateau, Kogi and Ogun State. He attended both local and international courses and conferences during his career in service. He is also a member of Nigerian Society of Engineers among others.
In his remarks, while giving votes of thanks Deputy Director Highway (North Central ) Engr Bola Aganaba congratulated the retirees on their meritorious services rendered to the nation while in service.
