Echoes of Brotherhood and Collaboration as Oluyole Branch inaugurates new leader

The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Oluyole Branch has inaugurated its new executive members led by Engr Abdulrasaq Jimoh.

The event which was chaired by the President of Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr Adekunle Mokuolu was attended by various dignitaries with other Branches in Oyo State coming together in strong bond of brotherhood to celebrate the new chairman.

The Programme started shortly after the president of NSE Engr. Adekunle Mokuolu was ushered in by the outgoing chairman Engr. Ademola Agoro. The event anchor, Engr Seye Omolade opened the event and also introduced the dignitaries following which the outgoing chairman, Engr Ademola Agoro delivered his welcome address. He expressed appreciation to members for their supports through his tenure. He used the opportunity to list some of the achievements of the young Branch in the last two years.

In his own address, the NSE President Adekunle Mokuolu, charged engineers to offer complete support to state government led by Engr Seyi Makinde and ensure it deliver quality infrastructures and other social development programmes that benefit the citizens.

Speaking further, The President noted that Oyo State has the distinction of having both the governor, Seyi Makinde and the deputy, Rauf Olaniyan to be engineers and also Fellows of the NSE. The success of Oyo with distinguished engineers in saddle is capable of sending positive signals to other states. Therefore, the engineers, should do all they can to ensure their success.

President Mokuolu charged the new Chairman to work on compiling compendium of all the engineering companies within the industrial area and urged the new administration to invest in data collection and application. He said that there is need to know exactly how many companies there are and also how many graduates are unemployed as well as the the true situation of the infrastructure in the state. This and many others, he said, can assist the state government in planning and also making accurate decision.

Also in attendance at the event is the past President of NSE, and a past WFEO Vice President, Engr. Ifedayo Akintunde who was also the father of the day.

Engr Akintunde counselled the Branches to form stronger bond of brotherhood and work together. He showered praises on the pioneer Chairman of Oluyole Branch who worked very hard in nurturing the branch to achieve greatness during His tenure. He tasked the new Chairman Engr Jimoh to build on the foundation and take the Branch to a greater height.

He likened the relationship between the Branches in Oyo state to catapult while urging them to see each other as two equal branches working for common purpose.

The Inaugural lecture “Energy Efficiency and Its Impact on Nigeria Economy” was delivered by Engr. Yusuff Aliyu. (Yusal, Consult Ltd, Ilorin).

Thereafter, there was Investiture of the new chairman Engr. Abdulrasaq Jimoh who was led in oath of office by Engr Agoro before delivering his inaugural speech where he promised an all inclusive, impactful administration as well as building on the legacies of the outgoing Chairman.

Engr Jimoh outlined some of the areas he will also focus on aside building on existing structures. Some of them are nurturing stronger Industry/Academic relationship, members professional development, young engineers development, stimulating entrepreneurship among engineers, as well as contributing more into policy formulation and implementation. and more.
