PROFILE OF SIR. ENGR. DR. UCHE EMMANUEL OBIAJULU – PhD, M.Tech, PGD, HND, KSC, FNSE, FNIMechE, MNIProcE, MASME, MSPE.
Sir. Engr. Dr. Uche Obiajulu is from Unubi in Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State. SIr Uche, The new Chairman of Lagos Chapter of NIMechE, is a fellow of Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineering, Fellow Nigerian Society of Engineers, Member American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Member Society of Petroleum Engineers and Knight of St. Christopher . He is a registered with COREN.
Uche is the CEO Ucjayd Ltd PH which is an Oil and Gas Engineering Services company, CEO Englink Engineering Ltd and an Executive Director Unubi Microfinance Bank, Unubi Nnewi South and an execute Director in one of the biggest Construction Companies in Nigeria. He is an Outstanding Engineer who designed the first Made in Nigeria Fire Truck. A philanthropist and grass root politician who delight in giving scholarships and help to the needy.
His education career started at St. Michaels Primary School Fegge Onitsha. Where he had his Primary School education before proceeding to Metropolitan Secondary School Onitsha for his secondary education. He subsequenty went on to bag Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering from Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu, Post graduate Diploma (PGD) in Special Purpose Automobile Engineering – Azambuja Portugal , Post graduate Diploma (PGD) in Mechanical Engineering – from Rivers State University of Science and Technology Port Harcourt, Master of Technology (M.Tech) Degree in Mechanical Engineering – Rivers State University of Science and Technology Port Harcourt and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Mechanical Engineering majoring in Production – Rivers State University of Science and Technology Port Harcourt
After graduation in 1986, Uche participated in the compulsory one year NYSC at Leyland Ibadan as a graduate trainee of the firm and got grounded in automobile assembly and rectification during the one year Graduate Trainee Program.
In 1988, he joined the Nigerian pioneer Fire Service Truck designing and manufacturing company COSPAM Nig. Ltd at Nsukka as the pioneer Production Manager. He was later sent on scholarship to study special Purpose Automobile engineering at Azambuja in Southern Portugal and obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Special Purpose Automobile Engineering and eventually did a development assignment with the Prestigious Special purpose automobile giant, Inasi Ind Lda in Azambuja, Portugal where he finished excellently and designed many Ambulances, Fire Trucks, Riot burster Trucks, Search and Rescue trucks etc while he worked there.
Engr Uche Returned to Nigeria in December 1998, as a specialist in Special Purpose Automobile design and fabrication with the expertise in design and fabrication of fire Service vehicles, Ambulances, Block Busters, Search and rescue vehicles etc.
At COSPAM which was the first company in Nigerian to make fire Service trucks vehicles, Uche (pioneer Production Manager) designed and supervised the fabrication of the first Made in Nigeria Fire Truck. These vehicles were designed by Uche and fabricated with mostly unskilled Technicians from Structures companies and ordinary Road side artisans like Panel Beaters etc, and it was possible because of the coaching, team work skills and mentoring skills of Dr. Uche.
He trained the men and women, coached and used them to produce the First set of Nigerian Made Fire Service Vehicles made sold to 3 state Governments then namely, Gongola state, Benue and Anambra state of those days in March of 1989. Many more followed.
Uche became widely sought for by Automobile manufacturing Companies because of the popularity of his feat in leading the production team in COSPAM that made Fire Truck. Out of companies that sought his services, he decided to Join Anambra Motor Manufacturing Motors (ANNAMCO) in late 1989 as a Production Superintendent in charge of Paint Shop and Finishing but also in the Special Purpose Vehicles’ Design/Assembly team saddled with the duty of the production of the Mass Transit buses, fire trucks and Cryogenic vans (cooling vans) in the Company, a new line of production in ANAMMCO then. The company went Moribund and he left for greener pasture in the Oil and Gas Industry.
On January 10, 1990, Engr. Uche Joined Schlumberger Dowell as a Trainee Service Supervisor (Oil well Cementing, Stimulation, Sand control). Passed through the necessary trainings locally and in UK and went to work in the field and base. He Designed and executed many Primary cementing jobs round the world, did so many Sand Control jobs, did Stimulation and later became the first Nigerian Coiled Tubing Specialist / Assistant Driller in the Schlumberger Coiled Tubing drilling services Unit in 1993.
He carried out many Well re-entry works with Schlumberger CTD team at Egbema Shell field, Shell West operations and some Texaco wells.
On December 16, 1996, Uche joined Chevron Nigeria Ltd and rose to level Onshore Field Area Engineer and was responsible for managing all the Western Swamp Area and all Eastern swamp and offshore Production engineering Operations.
He Worked with Chevron in several area: in Drilling and Completion Department as Drilling Engineer, Drilling Site Manager, Knowledge Management Engineer, Drilling Engineer – Depwater Drilling Equipment.
In Production Operations department, he worked as Lead man and Acting Platform Supervisor Meren 1 Production Platform and Gas Compressor Plant. In Production Engineering Department he worked as the Production Engineering Barge Coordinator, Production Engineering Desk and Field engineer Respectively.
He was in Agbami Depwater Field project team (Drilling Engineering). In the project, he Worked on Sedco Energy Deewater Rig and Deepwater Pathfinder Deepwater Rig too and completed the subsea Wells in Agbami. The rigs drilled the 4000ft depth of water Chevron Agbami Deep Water that produce about 250,000 BOPD as a rig Company Man in Field Drilling Project Team. He worked in several locations locally and overseas and has travelled to the major 4 continents of the planet to nations too numerous to mention.
In July 2014, Uche decided to take a Voluntary early Retirement from Chevron after 18 yrs of meritorious service and set up a private Oil and Gas engineering company called Ucjayd Ltd with operational base in PH. Uche went into many trades applying his numerous Academic and trade skills to keep himself relevant to the need of humanity. He went into Part Time Lecturing, Set up Microfinance Bank with friends, Set up Electronics Business doing very well in Nnewi town which was the former Council headquarters of his town Unubi. He is also currently Consulting for Oil companies with his huge talent and experience including Chevron Nigeria Ltd in the area of Well Intervention as an Expert, currently consulting with Escravos operations of Chevron.
Uche is an astute Scholar, lecture in Universities and Polytechnics. He deliver Papers, has been an “Innovative Challenge” Coach for Royal Academy UK, a Speaker in Conferences. He is an Editorial team member of Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers Journal “The Mechanical Engineer” since inception.
Uche Has published several Technical papers and developed standard equations for solving several Engineering and Productivity Problems which is published in over 5 international journals and 5 Technical Magazines.
Uche was the Pioneer Chief Inspector of the Victoria island Zone, Engineering Regulation and Monitoring (ERM) Inspectorate of Council for Regulation of Engineers (COREN). That ERM zone covers all the engineering practice and project regulation and monitoring along Lagos Island, VI, Lekki and Epe corridor and has 14 inspectors which has exposed and stopped project Technical sharp practices, and has inspected over 50 projects in the zone and many have been sanctioned by the appropriate COREN units. Lagos state Government agents had been working with that team for some time especially in the area of collapse building investigation.

Uche is married to Chizoba and has 5 children.
