The Nigerian Institution of Highways and Transportation Engineering, Port Harcourt Chapter is all set for the investiture of Engr Francis Oriakhi as its second Chairman. The event will hold on March 23rd 2019 at Engr Ishmael Banigo (NSE) Secretariat, Water Works Yard, 3, Bernad Carr Street, Port Harcourt from 11.00 am prompt.
The Highways and Transportation Division of NSE was initiated in 2013 and thus became the 19th Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE). The Division is responsible for transforming the country’s highway sector especially on compliance monitoring, assets management, road safety financing and capacity building for the professionals.
Some of its missions include: To think, transform and transcend the nation’s highway practice to that of global best practices, To provide forum for members and partners of the highway industry that foster education, innovation, research, fellowship, promoting a safe, sustainable and efficient highway system, To bring radical changes into the highway practice in design, construction, maintenance, sustainability and management of highway infrastructures among others.
Dignitaries from across the country are expected to grace the event which will be chaired by the National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Highways and Transportation Engineering, Engr Oludayo Oluyemi while Engr Tam-Jones Atuboyedia will present the inauguration lecture titled “Pavement Design Construction and Quality Control”.
