The Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers has concluded all plans to inaugurate it Lagos Chapter. The event coming up at 10.am on February 13, 2019 at Federal palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos will also witness the investiture of Engr Seun Faluyi as its inaugural chairman.
Various dignitaries are expected at the event which will be chaired by Engr Jani Ibrahim, include the President Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr Adekunle Mokuolu, Senator Iyiola Omisore, is the Special Guest of Honour. Also expected are, Hakeem Dickson, DG Lagos State Safety Commission, Oba Otudeko as the Father of the Day, Dr Vincent Ebuh, Distinguished Guest of Honour, Engr Prince Biodun Oyedepo, and host of others. The President, West African Federation of Engineers, HRH Engr Otis Anyaeji will deliver the keynote address at the event.
The Institution established to ensure the continuous improvement in the standard of Engineering projects in Nigeria as well as equip Engineers and the general public with the required professionals safety competencies through workshops, seminars, trainings /certifications was officially established on 11th February, 2016 by the NSE council approval has been growing fast with Chapters being established across the country.
About Seun Faluyi, MNSE, FNIMechE, FNISafetyE
Engr Seun Faluyi is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering from University of Lagos, and also hold an MBA (specialising in Operations Management and Marketing) and an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from same institution. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School (OPM, 2011).
Engr Faluyi has worked in various capacities in Energy and management sector. He is currently the CEO of Uraga Power Solutions Limited. He previously was the Managing Director at Offshore Dimensions Limited, an engineering company that specializes in the design of facilities and pipelines for the oil & gas industry as well as the Managing Director of Aloe & Squires Limited, a management consulting company that focuses on business strategy, business process re-engineering and organizational development for organisations in electric power industry. He was also the pioneer Managing Director, Global Oceon Engineering Limited, a EPCI established by partnership between Subsea 7 and petrolog International.
As a project developer, he started up the Hudson Power independent power plant, an Independent Power Producing company promoted by the Honeywell Group in Nigeria, as the pioneer Project Director. As a consultant, Seun was the Project Manager that implemented the unbundling of the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) into the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN). He was project manager responsible for the Transition Planning and workforce change management to ensure that the transition and unbundling succeeded.
As a business operator, Seun had rapid career progression and became a Senior Manager in Accenture, a global management consulting firm where he was responsible for the Utilities Practice in Lagos, Nigeria. His area of expertise was Business Strategy, Organization Design, Human Performance Management, Change Management and Business Process Re-Engineering.
As a professional, Engr Faluyi is a COREN registered engineer, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, a Fellow of Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers, a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. He has served engineering in various capacities at executive and committee level. He is the Chairman National Codes and Standards Committee for Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, National Vice Chairman, and Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers.
Seun is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars on Oil & Gas and Electric Power Sector Deregulation and Reforms including the African Utility Week in South Africa (2005 and 2015) and the West African Power Industry Conference in Nigeria (2006 and 2013). He is has been a guest speaker at PHCN in house seminars and workshops (2001 till 2011), ICAN Professional Education seminars (2009), Zenith Bank’s management seminar (2008) and conferences of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (2005, 2007, 2008) as well as NOG2010, Practical Nigerian Content Conference (2012) and the 2nd FLNG/FPSO Conference China (2015) . He is a mentor for the Fate Foundation and the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Foundation.
Seun is happily married to an economist, Joan, and they have three children.
