Late Madam Ezinne
She started and finished her Primary Education in Princess Day School, Aba and obtained her First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in flying colours. In 1959 she gained admission into Immaculate Heart Secondary Commercial School, Port-Harcourt and obtained school certificate commercial (Accounts) in June 1962.
She migrated to Enugu the capital of the then Eastern Region of Nigeria, were she secured employment with the Eastern Nigeria Development Corporation in the Accounts department on 1st July, 1963 as Accounts Clerk Grade IV. In turn, she was blessed by the Almighty God in her place of employment. Her hard work, diligent and commitment to work resulted in a series of promotions.
On Friday 11 May, 2018, Mama went to be with the Lord. It was a very sad and touching moment, yet with gratitude to God for life filled with beautiful memories and positive impact on everyone who came near her. She will be missed more than words could ever expressed but we look forward to seeing her again in the land that is fairer than day.
Late Madam Ezinne Comfort Ihekerenma Okereke Nee Ojike, while she walked on the earth, was the best example of a virtuous woman in Proverbs 31:10-31 that we have ever known. We cannot conclude this biography of our mother without the mention of:
Mommy can never be charged with selfishness. She was a giving and caring person to a fault. She was always thinking of others before herself with the words she always say “it is more blessed to give than to receive”. She loved and cared for all who came across her like one of her own and she made them feel at home.HER SWEETNESS
To her children, her grand children, daughter in law, her siblings, her neighbors, church members, friends and well wishers. She was a “lovely Christian woman”. She was always thankful to all who did the least thing for her.
HER SUPPLICATIONS:
Mummy was a woman unshakable faith and believer in efficacy of prayer. Her prayer life was a constant strength to her son and all around her. She read her IYE AKA (DAILY MANNER) and Bible every time at least every morning and every night. She prayed for her family and loved ones, right up to the end of her life. So passionate was she a believer in prayer that Mummy would always pray for all the children before they leave for school. She was a prayer warrior and a believer in God faithfulness.
HER SERVICE TO THE WORK OF GOD:
What can we say of Mum’s service to God? She was a servant of God, a worker in the Church and a soul winner that led by example. She supported the work of God in her little ways both at home and Enugu where she was based.
HER SERVICE TO HER PEOPLE:
Aside from her professional career, Madam Ezinne Comfort devoted years of selfless service to her community. She was elected as the Secretary General of Arondizuogu Patriotic Union (APU), Enugu Branch. She served in this position for a period of about 10 (ten) years. She held a similar position in the Akeme Town Assemble (NTA), Enugu Branch and many other position too many to remember now.
“ASA, the pain of your exit is hard to bear, but we are consoled that our wife, mother, sister, mother-in-law and grandmother lived her life with love, honesty, humility and a legacy of quiet dignity as an example for us all to emulate.
