Determined to re-position Ogun State for technical and vocational education, the state government, on Tuesday, inaugurated the State Technical Institute on the project.
The Institute, which includes six workshops and four laboratories, is established by the state government in collaboration with Samsung Heavy Industries, Korea.
Inaugurating the Institute located at the Government Science and Technical College, Idi Aba, Abeokuta, Governor Ibikunle Amosun, noted that the gesture was part of efforts of the state government to engender socio-economic development using education as anchor.
Governor Amosun stated further that the state places priority in making job creators rather than employment seekers, especially in ensuring the needed manpower to service the increasing number of industries in the state.
He assured that his administration would continue to support and collaborate with partners that would help in technical, Infrastructural development of the state.
In his remarks, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Isiaq Oloyede, commended the commitment of the state government towards educational development. He noted the facilities would help in the enhancement of education standard in the state.
Earlier, in her welcome address, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Modupe Mujota, disclosed that the project was borne out of the state government’s technological development initiative.
She explained that the project would place the state in good stead in using technology for development.
