TECHNOLOGY WILL PLAY KEY ROLE IN BUHARI’S ADMINISTRATION – ONU

Former Governor of Abia State and a chieftain of All Progressives Congress, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu has assured Nigerians that technology will play a key role in President Muhammadu Buhari’s effort to development the economy.

Onu made the disclosure while addressing a gathering of engineers at a lecture entitled: “The Nigeria Power Sector Reform: Progress, Status, Issues and Outlook”, organised by Nigerian Academy of Engineering Technology in Lagos.

According to Onu, President Buhari understands the importance of using local potentials and technology to achieve developmental feats and as such will do everything possible “to make things work out”.

Onu who was also the Special Guest of Honour at the event said Nigeria cannot develop without keeping pace with technology, saying “it is only when emphasis is placed on technology , we can fast tract our development process to create new jobs, rebuild our economy and achieve efficiency in our public institutions”.

The former Abia state governor also emphasised the importance of technology to the restructuring of the civil service, noting that such move will make government “function efficiently and enable it to provide the necessary support which government needs to execute and implement policies for the good of our people”.

The APC chieftain also recalled that the use of card readers is a testimony to Nigeria gradual acceptance of technology especially in her electoral system.
